I am believing that 2023 is going to be a year of Freedom!
Recently, during prayer, the Holy Spirit brought to my mind the word, “Freedom.” This is a word that we use many times, both in and outside of the church, with very little thought to what it really means. We talk about God setting us free, but do we truly understand what that means? You see, it is God’s will that we live lives of FREEDOM:
- Freedom from worry
- Freedom from sin
- Freedom from addiction
- Freedom from our past.
God does not wish for us to live bound by ANYTHING! In John 8:36, Jesus tells us “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” If we except Jesus Christ into our lives as Lord and Saviour, we can have complete and total FREEDOM! This means that we don’t have to walk through life bound by fear, anxiety, worry, depression, or anything else! A lot of times, we don’t have the freedom that God has intended for us to have because we keep hanging on to things.
We often are afraid to let go of those things because we become comfortable with them in our lives.
This is exactly where the enemy wants us to be; comfortable in bondage.
The enemy LOVES keeping us comfortable in a cage!
Think of it like this – if you take an animal and put it in a cage for most of its life, when you open the door to that cage, what does that animal do? NOTHING! Why? Because it has become comfortable in the cage. It finds security there. It finds safety and certainty there.
Many times, we become like that animal. We feel comfortable, secure, safe in our bondage. All the while not realizing that Jesus has already open the door to our cage – from the moment we accepted Him into our lives! All we have to do is walk out! But we stay right where we are because walking out of the cage takes faith, it takes boldness, it takes effort!
Are you comfortable in your bondage? Are you comfortable in a cage? Jesus wants more for you. You can have freedom! Peace is available to you! Joy can be yours! All you have to do accept Him as your Lord and Saviour, AND WALK OUT OF THE CAGE!
You can make 2023 a year of freedom for you! What are you going to do?
